Suffolk Masonic Fishing Charity is getting excited

The Suffolk branch of a fishing charity is excited at the news they can resume fishing events from March 2022. The charity has been unable to run events since the pandemic started in 2020.

 

The following lodges had kindly sponsored events pre-pandemic and include Virtue and Silence, Suffolk Installed Masters and other lodges that have pledged support include Apollo Lodge and the Rotary Club Forum of Colchester.

 

The events over the last five years have been held at many venues across the county including Hintlesham for both fly and coarse and Highfields Fishery courtesy of Mike Roberts and participants include many schools including Ashley School, Ferriers Barn, Julian’s Support, St Marys School, Market Fields School and Langham Lodge.

 

When a lodge sponsors an event (normally from the Master’s list) the Suffolk branch organises the event in the name of that lodge, they choose a local school or disadvantaged group close to the lodge and undertake the whole event in the name of the lodge. The Master and members of the Lodge can come along and watch or take part as well as conduct the presentation to the children. Breakfast is provided for the helpers and lunch is put on for helpers and children and then medals and certificates are organised for the children. The cost to sponsor an event for a lodge is £500 this goes straight to the Suffolk branch and covers all the costs.

 

They are always great fun and rewarding events and the children get so much enjoyment, the Lodge benefits from the great PR it generates and the bonus of helping the community.

 

The Suffolk branch which is part of the MTSFC is operated by members of The Court Knoll Lodge and is in need of more casters to volunteer for both fly and coarse events and to offer instruction for the children, all helpers must undergo a DBS check.
