March 17th Installation Meeting Suspended
Information from our Lodge Secretary – W. Bro Robert Clubb
Brethren
In the past 24 hours I have received a number of responses to my email regarding the meeting on Tuesday (March 17th).
In the main, most members would attend a slimmed down meeting. The problem with cancelling the meeting entirely is directly connected with the ’28 Day’ rule in having to re-arrange within that period. However, I understand that, with the PGM’s knowledge, an Installation meeting elsewhere in Suffolk was cancelled yesterday and other lodges are cancelling meetings in the remainder of March and all of April, with too the PGM’s knowledge.
Obviously it will be for UGLE to decide how they are going to enforce or relax the 28 day rule, but I suspect many lodges will be in breach.
A further complication for Court Knoll is that we already have a member with Coronavirus symptoms who has just started self-isolation. A Lodge officer is returning to the UK uncertain of their exposure to the virus and will not be attending the meeting on Tuesday in other members best interests.
I have talked to senior members of the Lodge and the preferred option is to suspend the meeting on Tuesday in its entirety, delay the Installation to a later date when the Master & Master-Elect can perform the full ceremony, as to when that is, who knows.
So, brethren, thank you for your contributions, especially those who, like me, would have attended on Tuesday. However, I think that we need to take a cautious approach and cancel completely and I will inform Veronica accordingly.
I will keep you informed regarding the April meeting.
